A digital twin - a system completely projected onto software environment - of one of the world’s largest Outotec mills, is being successfully implemented at the Gold Recovery Plant of Altyntau Kokshetau (Kazzinc operations at Akmola Region of Kazakhstan). The AI-based software is capable to compute equipment behavior and potential emergency situations. Its key purpose is to control the real-time process and prevent deviations in mills operation. The digital twin is capable to warn personnel a few hours before a potential non-standard situation.
To date, the unique system has been running on the two primary mills of the Gold Recovery Plant in testing mode, with a transition to the full-scale production operation planned for the end of October. The project completion is planned for the end of the year. The roll-out of the digital twins on other major process equipment of the Company is under consideration.
